Microsoft might launch Windows 8.1 without any other discount campaign

Microsoft has recently announced that Windows 8.1 would have a price tag of $119.99 (€90) for the core version and even though pricing is similar to the one of Windows 8 almost one year ago, the company doesn’t seem to be preparing any discounts for the OS update.

Back in October after the launch of Windows 8, Microsoft announced a price cut supposed to bring more users to the new and modern operating system, making it available for only $39.99 (€30).

What’s more, buyers of new PCs equipped with Windows 7 could get Windows 8 for only $15 (€11) until January 15, 2013.

This time, on the other hand, Microsoft seems to maintain the full price of Windows 8.1 for all users, as the company is already offering the update as a free download for Windows 8 adopters.

In case you’re not yet running Windows 8, you have no other option to upgrade to Windows 8.1 than purchasing the full package, which costs either $119.99 (€90) for the core version or $199.99 (€150) for the Pro edition.

Windows 8.1 will debut on October 18, with Windows 8 users to be allowed to download it free of charge from the Windows Store.
