Although Opera released yesterday a pre-beta build for their browser, we had no idea that the real beta would roll out so quickly. Today, the Norwegian developer releases Opera 12 Beta, available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

The highlights of this revision have already been touted in the development snapshots preceding this beta and include Out-of-Process Plug-ins (OOPP), 64-bit Mac and Windows versions or improved address field suggestions. Experimental full hardware acceleration, but it is disabled by default because in many cases Vega (Opera’s vector graphics library) proved to be faster.

Among the new things in Opera is the tab manager (opera:cpu) that lets you check CPU usage per tab. On the other hand, some features have been disabled (Unite, Widgets, and Voice and will be discarded in a future version of the browser.

The list of changes for Opera 12 is quite large and also includes plenty of repairs and extended support for web specifications. You can check all the modifications on this page.
