Microsoft rolled out Outlook 2013 for Windows RT users

Just as promised, the Windows RT 8.1 update brought us a preview version of Outlook 2013 RT, a new email client specifically designed to run on Microsoft's tablet-oriented operating system.

The application has been installed automatically on Windows RT devices together with 8.1 Preview, so you should now be able to see a shortcut placed on the Taskbar.

Outlook 2013 RT is only capable of running in the desktop mode, and no Metro support is available for the time being.

In addition, Outlook 2013 RT lacks several important features, but some of them might be implemented at a later time.

For example, it doesn't offer Microsoft Exchange DLP policy tips, site mailboxes, Online Archive or Personal Archive mailboxes, it doesn't run macros, add-ins, or other custom programs, it doesn't allow you to set IRM on new email messages, and there's no integration between the app and Lync.

The enterprise side has clearly been neglected but, given the fact that it's mostly aimed at end users, the majority of consumers should be okay with it.
