Start Menu apps remain very popular these days, even though Microsoft is doing some changes to its modern operating system in order to make it a bit more user-friendly.

While the Start Menu is expected to return in Windows 9, third-party apps supposed to bring this feature in Windows 8 receive updates on a regular basis and this is the case of StartW8 as well.

The official release notes which have been provided to us this morning reveal that StartW8 1.2.44.0 comes with options to change the color of the Start Menu, which means that you finally get more customization settings on both Windows 8 and 8.1 computers.

Fixed bugs are also part of this new release, so the application is expected to run smoother and be more stable regardless of the platform that’s powering your device right now.

The program continues to provide support for all versions of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, including 32- and 64-bit editions, so you can download StartW8 1.2.44.0 right now if you’re looking into ways to make the operating system look more like Windows 7.

Windows 8.1 already comes with a Start button, so StartW8 completely replaces it and adds the traditional Start Menu.
