Steve Ballmer has recently announced a major restructuring plan for Microsoft, hoping that his new vision could allow the company to migrate towards a devices and services approach.

And still, analysts believe that Microsoft's restructuring plan doesn't tackle the tablet and smartphone issues of the company, so Steve Ballmer should actually rethink the strategy on the long term.

"The recent reorganization does not fix the tablet or smartphone problem," Nomura analyst Rick Sherlund was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

"The devices opportunity just received a $900 million hardware write-off for Surface RT and investors may not even like the idea of wading deeper into this territory."

Microsoft is believed to be working on new devices to be released in the coming months, including not only a new Surface tablet, but also a smart watch that would compete against similar products from Apple and other large companies across the world.
