Microsoft indeed struggles to move consumers and companies from Windows XP to a newer platform, but not everybody is listening to what the software company is saying.

A survey commissioned by Dell and involving 500 IT professionals has revealed that 47 percent of businesses are yet to start the transition from Windows XP to a newer platform, with most of them pointing to app compatibility issues as the main reason for the delay.

The time needed to solve migration problems is also one of the top reasons, while user training and support needed after moving to a newer operating system are said to contribute to their decision of sticking with XP.

Microsoft, on the other hand, warns that computers running XP beyond April 8, 2014 will be exposed to attacks, as the company would no longer provide security patches and fixes for this particular OS version.
