The price might affect sales of the new tablet, he believes

Microsoft has introduced the second-generation Surface with much fanfare, claiming that both the RT and the Pro come with upgraded hardware for better performance and longer battery life.

Wes Miller, an analyst at Directions on Microsoft, tells NewsFactor that despite all these improvements, the new Surface tablet remains an expensive product, so the tech giant should at least consider cutting down the price a little bit to help buyers save a few bucks.

"When you look at the Surface Pro 2, Microsoft has counteracted anybody who looked at the first generation and said why didn't they have Haswell. More importantly, by increasing both the performance and battery life I think it's better value for your dollar than you got before. But it's still a premium," Miller says.

Pricing for the Surface 2 starts at $449 (€335), while the Pro model is available from $899 (€665). Both devices are already up for preorder, but shipments will only start on October 22.
