It turns out that the update might break down a number of features on Surface tablets

Just like all the other tablets in Microsoft’s product range, the Surface RT can also run Windows 8.1, with the update delivered to users via the integrated Windows Store.

According to some users who turned to Microsoft’s Community forums, the Windows 8.1 update breaks down the screen rotation feature on some devices, but it’s not yet clear if Microsoft has actually attempted to fix it or not.

Here’s what one of the affected users is saying:

“I've got a problem where the screen won't rotate properly after the Surface has been left overnight. It will rotate on the lock screen, but then when I unlock, rotate is no longer working. It does work correctly at first when I power the device up from cold, but at some point, usually when I go to use it the next day, the rotate no longer works. It still works on the lock screen, but not once unlocked.”

While Microsoft suggested that installing all Windows updates and performing a device refresh could work, it seems that the problem still persists on a number of Surface tablets.
