Convincing users to upgrade to Windows 8 is Microsoft’s biggest challenge nowadays, especially because everybody is extremely satisfied with the way Windows 7 works.

According to a survey published by Computing, interest in Windows 8 remains low for the time being, as only 10 percent of the enterprises in the United Kingdom confirmed plans to upgrade to the new OS.

Only 9.6 percent of those who wish to make the switch to Windows 8 admitted that Microsoft’s operating system is the reason behind their plans, while 67 percent cited old equipment.

Since Windows XP remains such a popular piece of software, 12.3 percent of the respondents revealed that its end of support in April 2014 is indeed “a concern.”

In the meantime, Microsoft remains completely tight-lipped on Windows 8 sales, even though it’s pretty clear that the company needs to step in front of the media with some updated figures.
