Microsoft’s own Explorer revamped by third-party designer

Microsoft finally implemented a file manager in the very first Windows 10 for phones technical preview, but since this is work in progress, quite a lot of things can change before the final version of the operating system sees the day of light.

The best thing about the Windows Insider community is that third-party designers across the world very often come up with brilliant ideas about specific features and envision new designs that would really make sense for Windows 10.

This File Explorer concept shows indeed one of the features that should be part of Windows 10 for phones and could make a desktop user feel like home on their handset.

The File Explorer could thus become a universal app, and just like the designer says, there’s also support for dark and light themes, which should make it the one choice for the majority of users. With icons that resemble the ones on the desktop, the new File Explorer app could also feature support for more cloud services besides OneDrive, but we’re not pretty sure that Microsoft is ready to make such a change.

Windows 10 for phones is expected to debut in the second half of 2015, but do not expect Microsoft to go for such a dramatic transformation for File Explorer. And yet, some changes are indeed likely to be implemented, so let’s just wait and see what Microsoft is preparing for its users.
