Just like Microsoft confirmed approximately one month ago, Windows 8.1 will be distributed to users via the Windows Store, so users will get to see a notification message as soon as the update becomes available.

A screenshot posted by Tom Warren on Twitter reveals that this notification will also allow Windows 8 users to see what’s new in the next release, obviously through the integrated Windows Store.

“Get Windows 8.1 for free from the Store. Go to the Store to see what’s new and get the update. You can keep using your PC while it downloads,” the message reads.

This alert will pop up on both desktop computers and tablets, as Windows RT devices will also get the 8.1 treatment.

In addition to plenty of improvements, Windows RT tablets are expected to receive the Outlook 2013 RT email client that would basically allow them to check email accounts straight from the desktop.
