Designer envisions the new Windows Start screen

It’s a well-known fact that the Start screen wasn’t very well received in Windows 8, and many people actually criticized Microsoft for many months just because it decided to remove the Start menu, but now it turns out that many of these skeptics actually got used to the new feature.

In Windows 10, Microsoft will bring back the Start menu, but some people love the Start screen and, therefore, still want this feature in the new OS version.

This concept created by DeviantArt user kalinin-ilya shows that a Start screen in Windows 10 would still make a lot of sense, especially when equipped with some other features, including a taskbar placed at the bottom of the screen.

This way, the Start screen becomes a lot more effective and lets users perform many more tasks without the need to go over to the desktop. A search box providing access to Cortana would also be offered, as the personal assistant is expected to play a key role in the new Windows 10 operating system.

Of course, even though this concept looks appealing, it doesn’t mean that Microsoft would adopt it. The company confirmed that it checks out every concept released by users, but it’s very unlikely to adopt some of these features unless they perfectly match its strategy.

As far as Windows 10 is concerned, both the Start menu and a Start screen will be offered and users will be allowed to choose between these two. More details about the Start screen will be presented on January 21, during a dedicated Windows 10 for consumers event.
