Windows 10 for phones concept imagines a better Start

Windows 10 for phones preview is here, but as compared to what many of us expected, it only brings minor improvements to the mobile platform that's supposed to help Microsoft compete against Android and iOS in a much more effective way.

And yet, third-party concepts show that users are often more creative than Microsoft and build projects that could actually make much more sense for a revamped mobile platform.

This is the case of a new concept created by Matthew Langdon and which imagines not only a revamped Start but also interactive live tiles.

As you can see for yourselves in the gallery below, transparency is at the core of everything in this concept, and live tiles come with the same look as in Windows Phone 8.1 but with a flatter look and new icons.

And yet, the interactive live tiles make the Start screen even more useful because they allow users to interact with apps directly, without the need to launch them. For instance, you can quickly reply to a text message or control music playback from their apps' live tiles.

This idea has already been presented by Microsoft as part of a project designed by the Research division and it's believed to arrive in Windows 10 for phones at some point in the coming months.

Right now, Windows 10 for phones is still in its early stages of development, so more changes could only be introduced as work on this new project advances.
