The newest version for TightVNC Java Viewer is 2.6. There aren’t too many modifications available in this revision, but they definitely contribute to increasing the functionality of the application.

TightVNC Java Viewer 2.6 can remember the connections initiated. The new feature can save per host connection options and allows you to choose between hosts you previously established a connection with. Also, in order to save time, the most recent connections are automatically pre-loaded.

The second change in this release is the possibility to enable traffic encryption through built-in SSH tunneling. The prerequisite for running insecure communication over an insecure network is to have an SSH server available in the destination network.

TightVNC Java Viewer has evolved from the stage of web applet to that of a full-blown desktop application. You can download it from this page.
