First beta introduces a myriad of functional improvements

Total Commander entered a new beta stage of development, which brings to the table a slew of improvements touching on the functionality of the file manager.

The first beta for version 8.50 of the product enhances support for touch-screen devices, allowing selection of icons by simply tapping on them, while a long tap reveals the context menu.

A long-awaited improvement regards the file copy operation, which is no longer interrupted when an error is encountered. In the case of files that generate an error, the user is asked for an action at the end of the operation. Also, there is the possibility to verify them after copying.

Total Commander 8.50 includes support for unpacking a larger number of archive types: 7Zip, new RAR5 format, as well as -lh6- and -lh7- (LHA).

The application can display the file size and last modified time for virtual folders, which are encountered when mobile devices (e.g. Android) are connected to the system.

The list of improvements available in this revision includes the search function as well. In this sense, the developer added the possibility to run search as a separate process by pressing Alt+Shit+F7, which makes Total Commander still usable while search is running.

Also, “feed to listbox” function is also available when searching in archives, on FTP servers and file system plugins. Additionally, a new dialog box allows selecting the files inside the groups of duplicates.

The changes present in the first beta for Total Commander 8.50 are numerous and these are only some of the highlights. Head to this page for the full list.
