Facebook Now is currently the top free app on Windows 8, according to the official rankings published in the Store, which does nothing more than to confirm the need for more social apps on this OS version.

With Facebook still working on its very own Metro client to access the social network, third-party clients continue to record a terrific success in the Store, especially because many Windows 8 adopters are also users of the service.

Facebook Now, for example, has quickly become the top app in the Store, managing to overtake Microsoft’s very own Skype app and the official Google Search client.

As far as the official Facebook app is concerned, it will provide support for both Windows 8 and Windows RT and will be completely optimized for the touch to make the most of Microsoft’s Modern design style.

No release date has been provided, but expect it to be here at about the same time as the stable version of Windows 8.1.
