New build available only for Windows, other platforms remain unaffected

Adobe released a new update for Flash Player, one that addresses an issue that caused the app’s update service (FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe) to crash.

The latest revision number is 11.3.300.270 and is intended only for Windows, as the other platforms are not affected. This build does not integrate any other change except for the fix for the crash bug.

Because of “logistical issues and time constraints” Adobe does not offer the new release through its Product Download Center. However, the company provides several ways to get it, and the simplest of them are Flash Player’s built-in silent auto update mechanism, which, if activated, automatically installs the new build within 24 hours and direct download.

Another way to get it is through direct download for ActiveX (Internet Explorer), all other browsers or the archive that also contains the Content Debugger, all available here.

The next Flash Player release will sync the version number on all supported platforms.
