Microsoft will retire Windows XP in about one year from now, but only a few users have expressed their intention to dump this popular Windows version and move to a newer release.
According to IBRS analyst Joe Sweeney, consumers choose to stick to Windows XP because it just works, so they see no reason to move to a newer platform for the time being.
“It gives them everything they need. Have organizations left this too late? I don’t think so. I think large organizations that have planned to roll out over an extended period of time are doing the right thing. They are probably smart enough to know they don’t need to worry about the end of service deadline,” he was quoted as saying by itnews.
In the meantime, Windows XP remains the second most popular operating system in the world, with a market share that jumps the 38 percent threshold at a global level.
