VLC for Windows 8 has landed in the Windows Store approximately one month ago, but the developing team said at that time that numerous features were still not working, so everybody is now focused on fixing bugs and addressing performance issues in the app.

Today, a new version of VLC for Windows 8 got to see daylight, bringing numerous bug fixes, including some aimed at dealing with the crash experienced on start and on music database creation.

The feature lineup remains basically unchanged, so you can still open your video and music files in the Modern UI with only a few taps. VLC for Windows 8 can only be installed on x86 and x64 versions of the operating system, but a Windows RT build is expected to debut soon.

“VLC for Windows 8 is an experimental port of VLC media player for the WinRT platform. VLC media player is an open source application that plays all multimedia file formats, from files, streams and discs on all platform. This application will play most video file formats, including Ogg, FLAC and MKV,” the updated app description published in the store reads.

Overall, this update clearly comes in handy to many users, especially because it packs bug fixes, so download VLC for Windows 8 right now on your device.
