VLC for Windows 8 is still a work in progress, even though the application was expected to launch a long time ago after VideoLAN raised the necessary funds after a Kickstarter campaign.
After experiencing several audio issues and working together with Microsoft on a number of problems, the developing team behind the project says that it’s now ready to submit VLC for Windows 8.1 once again to the store, which means that a download link should appear anytime soon.
“New version of VLC for WinRT will be submitted soon on the store! Will keep you posted...” VideoLAN said in a very short tweet.
The application will initially support x86 and x64 versions of Windows 8, but a Windows RT build should follow soon after that, the developing team guaranteed. More information on this will emerge soon, so we’ll keep you posted as well.
