Microsoft announced the official launch of Skype for Outlook.com this morning, as it tries to make its email platform more of a social service capable to compete with Google’s Gmail.
As you can see in this video, making Skype calls from your inbox seems to be a pretty neat future, especially for Microsoft users who never want to close the email.
At this point, the new feature is only available in a limited number of countries, but Microsoft has promised to release it to more users anytime soon.
At the same time, the company has also launched a contest to promote the Outlook.com – Skype mix by giving users the chance to chat with celebrity chef Gail Simmons using Skype. More information on the contest can be found on this page.
