Windows 8.1 build 9471 got leaked yesterday, showing us that Microsoft is very close to completing development of the RTM version that’s expected to be shipped to OEMs this month.

As you can see in this new clip, this particular build packs quite a lot of improvements, including a new option for the Start button to quickly sign out from the OS.

In addition, Mail, People, and some other Metro apps have been updated too, while Skype is now offered as the default messaging client for all users.

Microsoft doesn’t usually comment on leaked builds, so it’s probably safe to assume that build 9471 is a nearly-final version that packs most of the features we should see in the RTM flavor.

As for general availability, a new report is claiming that Microsoft might wait until mid-October to bring it to the market, but we’re still waiting for an official announcement on this.
