WinRAR has just been updated to the first beta of version 4.10. The latest installer is available for Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and FreeBSD, but only the first two platforms benefit from both32-bit and 64-bit edition. Also, the graphic and command line release is available only for Windows.

Modifications cover both newly added options, such as wiping temporary files extracted from archives identified as encrypted, or securely deleting encrypted files; also, some settings have been moved to a different menu.

However, most improvements cover ZIP format. WinRAR can now create ZIP archives of any size, the 2GB and 65535 file number limitations being now removed; it can also create split ZIP archives and boasts support for high precision file time support (100 nanosecond accuracy).

"Synchronize archive contents" option and -as command line switch are now supported in ZIP format.
