Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879 comes with several improvements, including new options to disable the Task view and Search options on the taskbar, but Microsoft has also implemented some more subtle changes that are supposed to improve the overall look of the operating system.

Case in point, system icons, which now adopt a more modern and stylish look that seems to be just more appropriate for a new operating system like Windows 10.

As you can see in the photo gallery after the jump, the new icons are currently used for folders, some document formats, and network, but more are very likely to be implemented in future releases.

This is clearly a new step towards a refined look of Windows 10, and Microsoft needs to make the operating system as eye-candy as possible, especially because it tries to create the perfect mix of traditional Windows features and modern elements.

As you most likely know, Windows 10 is still in development stage, and a lot of things could change until the final operating system hits the market, so it’s not guaranteed that the icons you see here will remain available in the final product.

In the meantime, however, they confirm once again that Microsoft is working to improve the looks of its operating system, so expect more such changes to be released in the upcoming updates in early 2015.
