Microsoft rolled out a new build of Windows 10 for phones a few weeks ago and it’s no surprise that many users rushed to give it a try, even though it’s still in preview form and it’s still unstable and prone to bugs.

While Redmond itself hasn’t provided any clear figures on Windows 10 for phones, statistics provided by AdDuplex reveal that Microsoft’s technical preview is installed on 0.7 percent of handsets powered by one of its mobile platforms.

In other words, out of all devices powered by Windows Phone, 0.7 percent are running Windows 10. While this might not seem much, it actually is, given the fact that previously only 0.1 percent of these handsets were spotted with Windows 10.

On the other hand, Windows Phone 8.1 continues to top the charts with a share of 72.5 percent, followed by Windows Phone 8.0 with 18.3 percent. Windows Phone 7 is third with 8.5 percent.

Windows 10 for phones is projected to launch later this year, but right now, it’s not yet clear whether Microsoft plans to release it together with the PC version of the new operating system or shortly after that.

All Windows Phone 8.1 devices can be upgraded to Windows 10 for phones free of charge, with Microsoft saying that those with 512 MB of RAM would lack some features because of their limited hardware capabilities.
