2.64 percent of the desktop users have already installed Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 was officially launched on October 17 in the store and even though lots of users experienced issues when trying to deploy the update, the new operating system is already showing the first signs of success.

Data provided by market researcher Net Applications for the month of November 2013 reveals that no less than 2.64 percent of the consumers still using a desktop are currently running Windows 8.1.

Windows 8.1’s market share has gradually increased since the debut of the public beta in June 2013, growing from 0.02 percent in July to 1.72 percent in October 2013.

At this point, the Windows 8.1 update is being offered free of charge to all Windows 8 adopters, while everyone else needs to pay at least $119.99 (€90) for the core license. On the other hand, users who want to purchase the professional version need to spend $199.99 (€150).
