Microsoft will allow Windows 8.1 to automatically update the installed Metro apps

Windows 8.1 will come with a dedicated option that will allow the operating system to automatically update the installed Metro apps without user interaction.

It turns out, however, that this feature won’t be available on a metered connection, according to some leaked papers that reached the web a few days ago.

“Windows Store apps are updated automatically. This does not happen while connected to a metered network,” it’s mentioned in these documents.

The option to automatically download and install updates for the available Metro apps will be displayed after you deploy Windows 8.1 Preview, but similar configuration settings will also be included in the main Control Panel of the operating system.

Microsoft hasn’t publicly confirmed this option, but expect more details to be provided in just a few days, as Windows 8.1 Preview is set to make its public debut at the BUILD developer conference on June 26.
