Windows 8.1 Update 1 will be launched in just a couple of months, so it’s not at all surprising that Microsoft is close to completing the development process.

A new batch of screenshots published by WZor reveals that Windows 8.1 Update 1 RTM Escrow is ready, so Microsoft is about to send the package to OEMs in order to install it on new devices to ship this spring.

Escrow means that Microsoft has completed the development process and no new features would be added, as the tech giant is now giving the final touches to the update.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is expected to launch in April, but PC makers could get it as soon as late February or early March, so this new report pretty much makes sense.

Of course, Microsoft is yet to publicly comment on this new update, but expect some official details to be revealed anytime soon.
