The Start screen provides quite a lot of customization options thanks to the recent Windows 8.1 updates, but some of the apps included in the Windows Store also bring additional tweaks for adopters of Microsoft's modern operating system.

The so-called Calendar Live Tile is an app that can bring a customizable calendar right on the Start screen, obviously offering plenty of options to change its looks.

For example, the primary app tile can be updated every day if you let the app running in the background, while secondary tiles, which can show 12-month calendars, also bring additional options.

You can choose between multiple color themes, weekend colors, fonts, pick the first day of the week, enable lines and rounded corners, a background image, and a glass effect, all to better match your Start screen look

Of course, Calendar Live Tile is completely free and comes with support for both desktops and tablets, working even on Windows RT, the tablet-oriented operating system that's powering units such as Microsoft's own Surface RT.

In the end, this little app is clearly worth a shot if you're looking into ways to customize the Start screen with more goodies, so go ahead and download Calendar Live Tile to see what it's up to, no matter if you are running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
