If you are looking into ways to customize the lock screen of your brand new Windows 8 device, this little tool might be exactly what you're searching for.

Simply called Weather Lockscreen, the app can bring the weather forecast on the lock screen with just a few clicks (or taps, depending on the device that you are using).

Basically, you only need to configure the location you want to get the forecast for, choose the position of the forecast on the screen, pick a desktop background and hit apply.

“Weather Lockscreen displays a weather forecast on your Windows 8 lock screen so at a glance you can see if you need that umbrella or extra layer of clothes before leaving the house in the morning. It also delivers Bing's daily image as a backdrop or feel free to pick from your own library of pictures,” the app description states.

The app works on both desktop computers and tablets and has an interface that's completely optimized for the touch, which means that you can also try it out on a Surface RT.

Unfortunately, it is not available free of charge, but with a $1.99 (€1.50) fee. However, a trial version is available if you'd like to get the app for a spin, so go ahead and download Weather Lockscreen to see what it's up to.
