It turns out that not everyone agrees that Windows 8 is becoming a flop

As I told you earlier today, Microsoft employees are said to internally refer to Windows 8 as “the new Vista,” which is nothing more than an indication that Microsoft’s latest OS version has failed to impress.

But as far as Al Hilwa, a technology analyst for International Data Corporation, is concerned, the comparison between Windows 8 and Vista is not really accurate.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Hilwa explained that Vista failed to excite pretty much because it was fairly unreliable and it shipped very late, while Windows 8 has none of these problems.

“Windows 8 ran reliably, and on vision,” Hilwa said. “The problem was the vision. It made the whole desktop user base suffer with the lack of the Start menu. It’s not about abandoning the convergence story. It’s making the hybridizing of these two platforms more effective.”

The problem is that people still avoid moving to Windows 8 more than one year after launch, even though the parent company has already launched a major update that’s supposed to address all issues.
