Designer creates new interpretation of the upcoming OS version

Windows 9 is expected to debut in early 2015, but Microsoft is obviously keeping everything secret, so no confirmed details about what’s to come in the next Windows operating system are available right now.

On the other hand, people familiar with the matter revealed that Windows 9 could come with lots of new features, including a modern Start menu that would more or less mix the classic design we saw in Windows 7 with Windows 8’s Start screen.

The concept you’re seeing here is based on a completely new approach that turns the Start screen into a full-featured Start menu by reducing its size and making live tiles a bit more helpful right on the desktop.

Microsoft already presented a mockup of the upcoming Start menu at the BUILD 2014 developer conference in April, but since then the company hasn’t talked at all about the feature that’s set to return in a future Windows update.

This mockup also presented a mixed design with live tiles and classic design elements, including power options that could make it easier to reboot or shut down a computer.

In the meantime, those who want to bring back the Start menu in Windows can always turn to third-party apps, as many have already been updated to support pretty much all modern OS versions released by Microsoft.
