This is what Windows Phone 10 could look like

Microsoft might unveil the new Windows Phone 10 on January 21, during a Windows 10 event focused on the consumer experience in the new operating system, but until then, designers across the world use the remaining time to present their very own versions of Redmond’s smartphone platform.

The concept you see here was created by James Bartlett and revamps pretty much everything about Windows Phone 8.1, including the Start screen, which now comes with a flatter but more modern look than the one currently available to users.

A new notification center is also part of the concept and the designer claims that quick reply functionality was essential. “Simply swipe down on any notification and tap to reply, like, retweet, or anything else developers can think of,” he says.

There’s no doubt that quick actions really make sense for the notification center and Microsoft is most likely already working on such a feature. Similar options are also expected to be part of Windows 10 when it comes out later this year.

Windows Phone 10 will definitely come with a lot of changes but also with a new name, as sources close to the matter claim that Microsoft is planning to adopt a new designation that would better capitalize on the Windows designation.

As a result, the future product could be simply called Windows 10 Mobile, while other possibilities include Windows Mobile and Windows 10 for Phones.
