A couple of alleged Windows Phone 10 screenshots reached the web a few days ago, and while nobody knew for sure whether they were legitimate or not, here's something that's coming from a much more official source.

Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president, Operating Systems Group at Microsoft, took the stage at TechEd Europe 2014 to discuss Windows 10 plans, and while presenting some of the features that could be part of the next operating system, he also showcased a new Windows Phone design.

Spotted by NPU, this new design comes with a refreshed UI for the home screen, which looks a bit cleaner and more modern, but doesn't seem to bring any exciting features such as interactive live tiles, as it has been rumored in the last couple of months via various sources.

As you can see for yourselves by clicking on the adjacent picture, the design presented by Belfiore at TechEd Europe is marked as “Early design, not final UI,” which could actually mean that, if this is indeed Windows Phone 10, it's just a very early design that could change a lot until the final operating system gets the green light.

While details are not available right now, it appears that Microsoft is working to make wallpapers available across the entire UI in the same way panoramic wallpapers work on other platforms (you can check out the new design in the video below starting minute 26:00).

More information on Windows Phone 10, however, might be provided later this month by Microsoft itself, as the company is also to discuss smartphone plans at the January 21 event focused on the consumer experience in Windows 10.
