Microsoft has already confirmed that it’s dropping the Nokia brand in the favor of the new Microsoft Lumia, so more changes are going on right now within the company.

In addition to many other updates that are supposed to mark the debut of the Microsoft Lumia brand on the smartphone market, Redmond is also planning to rename its Windows Phone social accounts to Microsoft Lumia on November 7.

This move is needed to better emphasize the rebranding process that the company is going through right now after the acquisition of Nokia’s Devices and Services firm earlier this year.

Microsoft first announced that it planned to rename its Windows Phone social accounts last month on Facebook, but the company is now giving us a deadline for this decision, so don’t be too surprised if a new Microsoft Lumia account shows up in your Twitter timeline.

Word has it that Microsoft is also working to drop the Windows Phone brand for just Windows in future phones, thus the rebranding process might be announced in 2015, when the company could introduce the new Windows Phone 10.

This change of strategy could be part of the Windows 10 rollout which is going to bring quite a lot of changes on all platforms, including a possible merger of Windows Phone and Windows RT for a single OS powering both smartphones and tablets.
