Microsoft confirmed during the weekend that Windows 8.1 Update 1 is coming this spring, but the company has only today announced that Windows Server 2012 R2 is also getting an update.

According to the software giant, this update will only include minor UI enhancements and bug fixes, but also monthly update rollups and security fixes.

“Microsoft is releasing an update to Windows 8.1 this spring which brings a range of new and enhanced capabilities to customers and partners. In coordination with this release, we will also release a minor update to Windows Server 2012 R2 at that time,” the Windows Server Team said.

Of course, no information has been provided on the launch date, but Windows 8.1 Update 1 is said to debut in April, so expect the server updates to be released at about the same time.
