Microsoft’s Windows Store is growing up at a rather slow pace, but the tech giant claims that everything goes according to the plan.
In fact, the Windows 8 Store is already more successful than the iOS Store, Microsoft CFO Tami Reller said in a statement. At least, when it comes to the number of apps approved for download in the first six months.
“Apps momentum has been steady as the number of apps in the Windows Store has increased 6x since launch. Comparatively, that’s already passed what iOS had in store, in its first year of app development. We’ve also surpassed 250 million Store apps downloaded in the first six months, and almost 90% of our app catalog has been downloaded every month,” Teller explained.
According to MetroStore Scanner, an unofficial service that keeps track of the Windows Store apps, there are nearly 68,000 entries approved by Microsoft right now, with approximately 1,000 new apps published every single day.
