Microsoft is currently developing a Metro version of the Office productivity suite, but in the meantime, if you’re planning to get a very simple text editor for Windows 8, here’s an interesting choice.

Simply called “Write,” this app boasts nothing more than an empty interface that lets you input text without leaving the Metro UI.

“Write is a text editor focused on writing. No distractions. Open it and just Write,” the app description reads.

Just as expected, the app works on both Windows 8 and Windows RT and can be easily used on touch-capable devices thanks to its optimized GUI.

Of course, it’s offered with a free license and no in-app advertisements are displayed, so you won’t have to pay for a full version.
