Microsoft is putting a lot of effort into offering its universal apps with both light and dark themes, but there are some traditional Windows apps that have more or less been left behind, including our beloved Notepad.

Believe it or not, there are still plenty of people who continue using Notepad, and we’re among them, as this little tool does exactly what we need when it comes to writing a short article and we’re in a rush.

And yet, because of Notepad being kind of abandoned, there’s no dark theme for it, but fortunately, there’s a way to change this. A Feedback Hub submission published by Vitor G. on Friday calls for Microsoft to add a dark theme to Notepad, but also to release a universal app version of this classic program.

And truth be told, it really can’t be too difficult for Microsoft to create a universal app version of Notepad, especially because the feature lineup is kind of limited and not a lot of porting work would be required.

Until now, approximately 60 people have already voted for this suggestion, so make sure that you check it out as well. Notepad remains one excellent lightweight text editor and there’s no reason not to have it aligned with today’s modern Windows operating system. Plus, a UWP version would really come in handy on all Windows 10 devices.
