Windows XP will be retired in April, but many anti-virus vendors will continue to support this old operating system for at least two additional years.

eScan has announced that its anti-malware software for Windows XP would still be available after Microsoft’s operating system goes dark, even though a security product is not enough to make sure that your computer won’t get hacked.

“Considering that over 30% of machines (worldwide) are still on XP, and over 60% in India (and possibly many other nations) still use XP, eScan will continue to support Windows XP (both SP2 and SP3), till the time that this number reduces to less than 5%,” Govind Rammurthy, managing director and CEO of eScan, said in a statement.

Windows XP is still powering 28 percent of computers worldwide, so it’s pretty clear that many users will need security products to defend their PCs after Microsoft stops providing updates and security patches.
