You can’t download it just yet, as it’s still internal beta

The official Facebook Messenger for Windows 10 is almost here and living proof is a beta listing of the app that showed up in the Windows Store just a few minutes ago.

But unfortunately, you cannot download the app for the time being, as Microsoft keeps it a private beta, so only the company’s employees have access to the download link.

Microsoft originally announced that Facebook was building a universal client for Windows 10 at the company’s hardware event in October 2015 and now that more than half a year has passed, it appears that the application is finally ready to go live.

At this point, it’s impossible to predict when this new universal app could go live, but given the fact that the BUILD developer conference takes place later this month, the chances are that Microsoft is holding back the release until the event kicks off and thus provide us with new goodies for Windows 10.

The feature lineup posted in the store points to features to get notifications right on your desktop, live tile support, options to send photos, videos, GIFs, and stickers, as well as tools to create groups for the people you message most.

Additionally, users will be allowed to forward messages or photos to people who are not part of the conversation and to search for users and groups to quickly send a message.
