It’s no secret that a number of users, developers, and companies are stepping away from Windows phones for various reasons, but despite the fact that some have rushed to predict the death of platform, there still are many people who stick with their Lumia devices.

Among them, Ferrari’s Formula 1 team, which has recently been spotted using a Lumia 950 XL inside the pits during the qualifying session for the Chinese Grand Prix.

As WindowsCentral first reported, the photos from the pit lane show Sebastian Vettel having a black Lumia 950 XL on his car, right next to the monitor displaying qualifying information. The device is most likely being used for accessing certain details regarding the car or the other drivers on track, such as times and laps.

While this isn’t really breaking news for Windows Phone fans, it’s still a good thing that Windows devices continue to serve a wide array of purposes, including showing race information to F1 drivers.

Certainly, Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile devices will be around for a little longer no matter what some predict, and although Microsoft itself has said that it’s focusing less on its mobile platforms these days, more exciting things are expected next year. A Surface Phone could mark the start of a completely new beginning for Windows phones.
