The progress on foobar2000 continues, with the developer releasing the first beta for version 1.1.11. The modifications brought to the player are pretty important, as they refer to potential security issues and also improve the overall functionality.

One of the most notable enhancements available in foobar2000 1.1.11 beta 1 is the improved built-in cross-fading functionality. The current version comes with a set of options for fade effect, available under Output section of the Playback menu in the configuration panel of the application. However, fading functionality is available only with the built-in DirectSound mode.

Also new in this build is support for album art in APEv2 tags on MP3 files. In addition, the new release adds type-find support in the default playlist view. This means that all you have to do is start typing the focus shifts to the result automatically.
