New Microsoft Band model expected in October

Microsoft Band is currently available at one of the lowest prices since its launch in October, as the Redmond-based software giant is probably trying to clear out inventories ahead of the unveiling of a new model likely to take place in the fall.

The Band 2 can be purchased right now from Amazon and Best Buy for $144.99, but this promo is only available in the United States and only for the small version. The large fitness wearable isn’t yet the subject of a major discount, but most likely, this version sold better than the small one, so Microsoft is trying to get rid of as many units as possible to make room for the third generation.

People with knowledge of the matter have said that Microsoft is already putting the finishing touches to the third-generation Band smartband, and a release could take place in October, one year after the unveiling of its predecessor.

Little is known about the improvements that could be brought to the new model, but Microsoft will most likely make it more durable, and rumor has it that interchangeable bands could also be offered.

One of the top requests for the next Band is to be waterproof and provide support for swimming, but until now, no information in this regard has been provided, and Microsoft is doing a great job when it comes to keeping details secret and teasing us with new info every once in a while.
