Microsoft announced that it created Dubai font, its first typeface developed for a city and which will be used by all local government departments, as Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has required.

The font will be available in 23 languages and was created in both Latin and Arabic scripts, with availability in Office 365 as of this weekend.

Local authorities have talked big about the new font, explaining that it reflects the UAE vision to become a pioneer of innovation. Microsoft, on the other hand, was very pleased to participate in the development of the font, especially because it’ll be used across all government departments.

“Dubai font was created in partnership with Microsoft and is designed to harmoniously integrate Arabic and Latin scripts. It is a unique project that reflects heritage and culture of UAE and reaches out to the whole world,” Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed explained. “It contributes to creating an attractive business environment that will boost emirate’s economy.”

Sheikh Hamdan is now reaching out to government departments to ask everyone to adopt the font, especially in the official correspondence, as it’s considered to be the emirate’s new signature, especially for documents that are being shared with other states.
