Microsoft has just rolled out a new firmware update for Lumia 550 and 650 that brings stability and quality improvements on these two new devices.

This is pretty much the only detail included in the official change log, with the company saying on a post on the Community forums that version number should be increased to 01078.00037.16082.410xx.

Since some users aren’t yet seeing the update, it’s worth mentioning that it takes a while until all devices receive it because it also depends on region and carrier.

“The availability of this update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. At the moment, the update should be already available for first batch of phones and the rollouts will continue gradually,” Microsoft explained.

If you want to check for updates manually, all you have to do is to head over to the Settings screen and tap of Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. If any new firmware version is found, the download process should start automatically.

Without any doubt, no matter the included improvements and fixes, everyone is recommended to update phones to the latest version because better performance is likely to be experienced. There are no reports regarding any potential issues caused by the update, so everything seems to be running smoothly.
