Because who needs Google Maps anyway, right?

Microsoft has released an important update for the offline mapping data available on Windows 10, trying to focus on some specific regions that users might want to navigate without an Internet connection.

Specifically, this new update makes it possible for users in Algeria to get navigation instructions without the need for Internet connection, so if you live in the country, you can download the maps when on Wi-Fi and then use them on the go with no Internet coverage.

Additionally, Belarus is also getting improved data for the Minks area, while some other locations, including Cocos Island, Christmas Island, and Norfolk Island received navigable maps.

Microsoft also focused specifically on overhauling transit information provided by its maps app, so with this update, users in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway are getting full national transit coverage.

Users in Spain are also targeted with this update thanks to information on trains connecting major cities, while transit coverage is also coming to Vancouver in Canada, Lisbon in Portugal, and two Hungarian cities, namely Pecs and Miskolc.

All these improvements are available on both PC and mobile devices running Windows 10, and anyone can get them by simply downloading offline maps.

To do this, launch the Settings app and go to Apps > Offline maps and look for mapping data for your location. It goes without saying that it could take a while given the large package, but once you’re done, you can get navigation instructions without an Internet connection.
