Surface experiences price hike in the UK by 15 percent

Microsoft announced earlier this week that it was increasing Surface prices by approximately 15 percent because of the Brexit vote and the decline of the British pound, and now the firm wants partners to do the same thing for the devices they sell in the country.

A report by ChannelEye reveals that Microsoft has already contacted partners to discuss the price hike, and although a specific increase was not provided, most retailers are expected to embrace the 15 percent boost like the software giant.

“For indirect sales where our products and services are sold through partners, final prices will continue to be determined by them,” a company spokesperson was quoted as saying by the source.

Microsoft says the new prices in the United Kingdom are only impacting individual customers and enterprises that do not have a volume licensing contract. Separately, the software giant also announced a price hike in the UK for enterprises, citing the Brexit vote as the main reason, with several of its cloud services being impacted.

Following the price hike, the base Surface Book model costs £1,449, up from £1,299, and all the other Surface models that the company is selling in the United Kingdom are experiencing similar increases.

Microsoft isn’t obviously the only company turning to such a decision following the Brexit vote, and the firm says that it’s only trying to adjust its prices with the British pound, so further adjustments could be made should the evolution of the sterling require it.
