Outlook app will have the same features on all platforms

Microsoft has put a lot of effort into getting the iOS and Android versions of Outlook right, and the app has become one of the best, if the not the best email client on these mobile platforms.

But as far as Windows is concerned, Outlook has more or less been left behind when looking at rival platforms, so seeing users criticize Microsoft for investing too much in iOS and Android is not at all surprising.

And yet, Microsoft is now planning to address this problem and wants Outlook to provide the same features and experience across all platforms, including Android, iOS, and Windows.

The company confirmed at Ignite that the plan is to bring all features across all operating systems, including the Focused Inbox, which is currently available for Android and iOS users exclusively. The Focused Inbox is a feature that automatically prioritizes important emails to keep the inbox clean, but until now, it wasn’t available on Windows devices.

According to Neowin, Microsoft is also planning on bringing other features in the Windows version of Outlook, such as @ mentions and cloud attachments, both of which are already available on rival platforms.

There’s no information as to when these features could be released to Windows users, but given the fact that the company is already working on this, it shouldn’t take too long until it happens.
