Microsoft is hiring 600 new employees for its operations in Ireland, as it’s moving to a new campus in Dublin and opening so-called Inside Sales Centers.

The Redmond-based software giant is planning to open a total of four such Inside Sales Centers, and the Ireland-based team will group 500 employees, all of whom are expected to join the company in the coming months. The remaining 100 jobs will expand across the firm’s other operations in the country.

The Inside Sales Centers will be responsible for selling software in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and involves contacting customers by phone or online.

“The team in Ireland has a long track record of helping the company to deliver against its vision and strategy and now there are opportunities for 600 more individuals to play their part in making the vision a reality,” said Microsoft Ireland managing director Cathriona Hallahan.

Microsoft, which first opened its doors in Ireland in 1985, is also building a new campus in Leopardstown, Dublin, that has an estimated cost of $143 million and covers no less than 34,500 square meters.

At this point, Microsoft Ireland has a total of 1,200 full-time employees and 700 full-time contractors, and is in charge of activities like software development and testing, localization, operations, finance, IT, HR and sales and marketing. The firm’s initial workforce in 1985 counted no more than 100 employees.
